June 14th, 2008

June 14, 2008 Twin Lakes Park, Paris, IL

bike rallyIt was a crisp clear morning to celebrate the start of the Third Annual CAMA Teen Bike Rally. The Expert Riders began from Twin Lakes Park at 7:00 AM for a 72 miles Tour de Park, through Edgar to Clark Counties.   By 8AM over 60 riders were pedal to pedal on the black top, back roads of east central Illinois.

“Our weather couldn’t have been better” said Carrie Miller Event Coordinator, for CAMA, Inc

CAMA had four new bike routes this year: 6, 25, 40, and 72 miles, every age group had an opportunity to participate. Tom and Bailey Johnson, a father, daughter team from Paris, IL road the six mile route, Bailey, 7 years old, was one of our youngest riders.

“It was a great day!” Elliot Minge the CAMA Teen president said.   The CAMA Teens look to this bike rally every year as a fundraiser to support the CAMA Teen program through the school year.  The support from the community was outstanding; from EMT’s to The Fire truck escort, we are very happy.

We want to send out a special thank you to the Ham radio operators of Indiana and Illinois for a job well done and to all who  those who helped make the bike rally a success.

Currently From CAMA, Inc.

On Tuesday, April 1st, 2008, CAMA, Inc sponsored a substance abuse prevention event entitled Beyond the Scoreboard with Craig Hillier.

Craig Hillier is from Minneapolis, Minnesota and since 1990 over a million students and educators throughout the United States have heard Craig’s ideas on leadership, achievement skills and becoming your best.  This all-day session was designed to instill principles of a “Season of Significance” and meet the challenges of today’s athletic leaders, including how substance abuse including underage drinking has negative effects on the athlete’s performance.

Six school districts( Paris, Marshall, Shiloh, Chrisman, Martinsville, Hutsonville) with a total of 80 coaches and athlete leaders, participated in this dynamic event held at the First Christian Church in Marshall Illinois.

CAMA, Inc appreciates the collaborative spirit that supports bringing opportunities of this caliber to the hometown students and the dedicated coaches who have a tremendous influence on them!
