. Congratulations Clark and Edgar Counties, for all of your hard work! Over 120 pounds of prescription and over-the-counter medications were collected on Saturday. This project has been two years in the making in this two county area. It started with a concern for preventing prescription drug abuse among youth and expanded to a project for all residents to not only dispose of their expired or unwanted medications, but to do so in an environmentally safe way. All collected medications have been incinerated so we no longer have to worry about those medicines getting in the wrong hands or putting dangerous chemicals in our water systems. We had two drop-off locations (Paris Community Hospital and the American Legion in Marshall, IL). This is by no means the end of this project. Our next steps will be to create permanent drop-off locations in both counties where residents can safely and confidentially dispose of their medications all year. If you are interested in this process or want to become involved of any of our upcoming substance abuse prevention projects, please join us at our CAMA Coalition Meetings. We meet monthly. Call our office at 217-465-4118 ext 253 for more information. CAMA Inc. would like to thank all who participated in this project whether it be those who dropped off medications, cookie bakers, CAMA Teens, CAMA Teen Teacher Advisors, Human Resources Center of Clark and Edgar Counties, City of Marshall, Marshall in Motion, City of Paris, Paris Community Hospital, Pharmacists, Law Enforcement in both counties, Operation Medicine Cabinet incineration company, groups we presented to over the past few months: Altrusa, Rotary, Kiwanis, Harlan Hall, Twin Lakes Rehab, Paris Farm Bureau, Marshall Ministerial Alliance, Chester Sutton Community Center, Peace Meal Program, Optimists Club, Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, Marshall Lions Club, Childcare Resource and Referral of Eastern Illinois University.
